What Guests Say

Lounge or bar in ibis Reading Centre

The location was very good, close to Reading train station and the bus stop for the RailAir bus to and from Heathrow. I could walk from the bus stop to the hotel even with a large suitcase and other bags. The hotel is on one of the main streets in Reading, so there is easy access to shopping and restaurants. During my stay my room was very quiet-I didn't hear any noise from other guest rooms or from the street outside. The room was a good size, with a desk that had enough room to use my laptop and tablet. There are power and USB sockets in good locations which allowed me to use and charge my electronic devices. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The shower was good with good temperature control and water flow. Breakfast was included in my booking and was very good, with a buffet that had a large variety of hot and cold food items. All of staff from the front desk, to the breakfast staff and housekeepers were very friendly and helpful. Tamas Racz the Front Office Manager was particularly helpful - I had problems with the card-key in the lift and to enter my room. Tamas came with me in the lift and to my room to check the problem. It turned out it was partly user error on my part. I would recommend this hotel, for a stay in Reading particularly if you are travelling by public transport.

The big stand-out about Ibis in Reading are the staff. They are helpful, efficient and friendly. A particular call out goes to Marta, who greeted me, a windswept half drowned traveler battered by Storm Bert at checkin. She was very kind, helpful and generous with her time. Thank you Marta, and thank you to all the other staff who contributed to my stay. On more mundane notes. The room was well laid out and comfortable, everything was nice and clean. The location is excellent for the station, buses and town centre and the views from the 14th floor are wonderful.

I was stranded by a cancelled train and booked a room at the Ibis in Reading. The room was quiet, clean, and conveniently located near the train station. The room had a nice selection of coffee and tea. I only drink decaf, so was very pleased this was an option. There were a selection of restaurants closeby. I also walked to many tourist attractions. They also extended my reservation for another day with ease.

I must say, it was a delightful experience! Here are some highlights from my visit: Excellent Location: The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the train station and the town center, making it easy to explore Reading and beyond. Comfortable Accommodations: My room was cozy and well-equipped, featuring a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Friendly Staff: The reception staff were superb—very friendly and accommodating. They made me feel welcome and were always ready to assist with any questions I had. Good Amenities: The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi, which worked perfectly during my stay. The 24-hour bar was a nice touch, providing a great place to relax after a long day. Value for Money: For the price, I found the ibis Reading Centre to be an excellent value. The room rate included breakfast, which was a convenient and tasty start to my day.

I really liked this hotel. It was just a short walk from the railway station, which was ideal for me as I was walking the Thames Path in stages. When I arrived I was given a choice of floors. Floor 10 was great. I left the window open and could barely hear the noise from the street. The window gave adequate ventilation and I didn't bother doing the aircon. Everything in the room worked and nothing was marked or chipped. The shower was good and the water from the tap was perfect..It was good to have really cold water to take on my daily walks. I had breakfast twice. There was a good variety and it was worth £12. The restaurant was pleasant, but they only served breakfast. I ate in the evening at two nearby Wetherspoons.

We really enjoyed our stay. The position of this hotel is perfect - close to the railway station & city centre, including a Wetherspoons nearby. Check-in & out was quick & easy by efficient staff. Our renovated double sweet 10th floor room was very clean & had a small window with a city view. It was very quiet considering the central city location. Wifi worked well for our simple requirements. Checkout is not until 12pm & the hotel will store luggage which fitted well with our onward travel.

Very clean room of generous size, a comfortable bed and a big shower compartment. Lots of storage and sitting space, tea-making facilities, and a very secure door with 24-hour lobby staff. A safe or safe-box would have been useful for valuables. Good lifts for heavy luggage and a very close position near the railway station and transport links to Heathrow and Gatwick make it an ideal location for transit passengers. The location also offers lots of places to eat, several supermarkets and Reading town centre, with its usual chain-stores is just a short walk away.

The hotel was in the city centre on a very busy street, and yet inside the hotel was very quiet. So lovely. The room was a good size & clean with tea/coffee. Excellent bathroom with great mirror and lighting for makeup application.

Very clean and great price. Very friendly staff who were welcoming. Room was comfortable and I slept well. Centrally located and easy to access local amenities. Parking very reasonable if you take your ticket to the reception desk only £8 for 24 hours if using specific Car Park as listed.

Facade/entrance in ibis Reading Centre

The centre of Reading near the station is a bit rough, but this hotel is a nice escape from those things. Check in was quick, both lifts working, which is good as there are 14 floors. The rooms are basic, but very clean - compliments to the housekeeping - and there was a working heating system which was good as it was chilly. Probably needed a spare blanket. Kettle and very basic tea/coffee in the room. If you need food, they can make you a pizza in the bar and there are places around about like McD and Spoons. Better options are probably about 10-15 minutes walk away.
